Two Pedestrians Injured, One Critically, In Hit-Run Crash In Suffolk County

Two pedestrians were injured, one critically, in a hit-and-run crash at a Long Island intersection.

It happened on Monday, Feb. 3 at approximately 6:30 p.m. in  Bay Shore.

The two victims were walking northbound on the sidewalk of Fifth Avenue, before crossing Fairtown Road, when they were struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Fifth Avenue, making a right turn onto Fairtown Road, Suffolk County Police said.

Victor Gonzalez Arevalo, 39, of Brentwood, was transported via Brentwood Legion Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with life-threatening injuries. Ibarra Martinez, 36, of Brentwood sustained a minor injury to his left foot.

Detectives believe the vehicle that struck the two men was a white SUV that fled eastbound on Fairtown Road.
